BondiCasa

Location

Halfway up Ramsgate Avenue.

27 Ramsgate Avenue, North Bondi NSW 2026. The hill starts at the promenade and the building is on the left before it gets serious about it.

From the airport

By taxi or rideshare it is about 30 minutes without traffic and up to 50 with it, for $55 to $75. This is the right answer after 9pm, with more than two of you, or with boards.

By train and bus it is the T8 to Central, the T4 to Bondi Junction, then the 333 or 380 down to the beach — about an hour all up and roughly $22. Fine with hand luggage and miserable with a suitcase.

From the city

The 333 from Circular Quay is a prepaid express and takes about 40 minutes. It is the pleasant way to arrive. By car it is 25 minutes outside peak and a good deal more inside it. There is no train to Bondi Beach and never has been — the line stops at Bondi Junction, and the argument about extending it is older than most of the buildings it would run under.

Once you are here

The sand at the north end is four minutes downhill. The Bondi to Bronte coastal walk starts nine minutes away at the southern end of the promenade. Ben Buckler and the view back over the whole beach is five minutes uphill. Hall Street, where most of the eating is, is eight minutes.

Parking is four off-street spaces at $35 a night, booked ahead. Street parking here is metered, resident-restricted and enforced without sentiment.

How far is Bondi Casa from Sydney Airport?

Not all the way. The line ends at Bondi Junction and the last leg is the 333 or 380 bus, or a ten-minute taxi. There has been no station at the beach since the tram line closed in 1960, and the argument about building one is older than most of the buildings.
